I love Sun Beetles their colour is so vibrant. Native of West Africa with an adult size between 20 and 30mm they make great pets. Very easy to care for. You can spend hours just watching them feed.
We keep them in a communal Vivarium, so they can be easily observed active during the daytime. We have a large heat mat placed on the inside back wall of the Vivarium thermostatically regulated at about 37 degrees Celsius on 24/7 In a three foot Vivarium. We supply UV lighting which of course is active during daytime from about 8am until around 8pm. This set up works very well.
They can fly although usually it tends to be males that will make occasional flight. they feed well on Banana skin and decaying tree wood.
Adults usually live between five to nine months.
I keep and breed these privately. If you are interested in making a purchase, give me a call. We offer them when available at fifteen pounds each plus delivery cost. I suggest keeping at least four together.
