A very easy tortoise to care for. Should be allowed outside in your garden, when the weather is dry and mild. Don’t make the mistake of waiting for a hot day, to put them outside, as they only end up sleeping all day, until the air temperature drops. This is called aestivation.It is the opposite to hibernation.
This species does not have to be hibernated, and can be successfully kept indoors, during the winter months, given the correct environment.
